Summary of the preaching

Sunday, May 21, 2023 – Apostle Billey.

1 Corinthians 6:17-20

17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

20 For you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Our responsibility is to cling to the Lord. And that’s a decision we have to make.

The blessing is not the material, God is the blessing.

Indeed, peace or joy is a blessing; and all this you can only have in God.

When we become Christians, it is to be better, not to keep our bad habits.

We were born to walk with God, for we are his temple. This is a truth that we must accept.

This passage from 1 Corinthians 6 explains that there are things we should do and things we should not do.

Whoever wants to walk with God must flee from sin at all costs.

He must resist fornication, adultery, fornication, anger, jealousy, envy, wickedness, lying….

The world refuses God, even though He is the one who makes all things.

The absence of God is what we call the world.

You must therefore flee from all evil with all your heart. Sin does not come from God.

** Why run away from evil?

Because of the choice you made to walk with God to be with the Lord one spirit…

It is the choice to follow Jesus Christ that must condition your walk, your decisions, your actions.

Indeed, you must know that you belong to God – and make a radical decision to walk with God and resist all evil. And this is done voluntarily.

All those who made this choice in the Bible were victorious people.

God asks us to separate ourselves from sin because we were born to live with God. We are part of God himself.
You are the temple of God, the Holy Spirit is in you.

And for the Holy Spirit to be free in the life of the Christian, he must be aware that he belongs to God.

Your responsibility is to keep this temple pure, to preserve it for God because you were born to walk with Him.

Don’t look at the family you were born in, or your nationality, or your bank account.
It has nothing to do with anything you can see – see physically.
The fact that the Lord created you, to walk with Him, is independent of all this.

** Assume these two cases:
– When you see God in heaven – He will be as far away from you.
– And when you see him in you, for he has told you that you are his temple – He will be like close to you.

How often will you be able to communicate with the Lord?

The reality is that the shorter the distance, the more you will communicate.

The message of the devil, the message of the world, is to make us believe that God is far from us.
You have the choice to choose the truth or the lie.

For God is not far away, he is not inaccessible.

Your choice must therefore be to believe in this truth that God is near you and much more: “He is in you”.
And you have everything to gain.

Indeed, where God is not present, there will be calamity, suffering, manipulation, desert, lack of joy, lack of peace, and even a lack of hope….

To refuse God in one’s life is to refuse life and therefore to open oneself to death.

Beloved, God wants his congregation to walk with him decisively, radically and resolutely every day.

** So what to do – How to pray?

As a born-again Christian, you should not see God as being thousands of miles away from you.
But rather consider God close, for he has said to you, I am with you; you are my temple.

You must see yourself with God in you, Jesus in you, the Holy Spirit in you.

You have to accept that God is indeed in you and you have to do it consciously.

1cor 6.19

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

Beloved, in view of this verse, is there not a decision to be made for every Christian?

Yes, there is a decision to be made and a radical one at that –

This decision is about the understanding of things God.

For no one can succeed without God, no one can be victorious without God.
All that sinful man calls success is not success. Financial – material success is not success.

What God calls success is what is true success.

** What should be done in a temple?

Do we commit adultery in a temple? Is the temple of God a place of depravity? No.

Reason why we are told to flee from falsehood, anger, impurity….

In the temple, there must be faith; the word of God, life…
It must always be kept pure, in peace, in love, in harmony….

Now, as I am the temple of God, what should be found in me?
All these things.

Unfortunately, we have since been deceived by the devil.
And instead of all those good things like prayer in our lives, love, humility…
It is rather distraction, sleepiness, laziness, pride, hatred, malice, jealousy, hypocrisy, ingratitude, pride…

If you look carefully in your heart, even if it has diminished in your life, you will find in you, one of those bad things that should not be in the temple of God that you are.

This is not what the Lord wants for us. His love for us is great and deep.

So if the temple is unclean, when it should be pure, it will be constant conflicts in the heart, inner struggles – such as you want to do good things, but it’s hard to do those good things.

Is this what God has planned for your life? No – beloved.

The word of God is strong and powerful and true.
The blood of Jesus is truly powerful.
The Holy Spirit is truly powerful.
Know, then, that when God transforms, he truly and totally transforms.

If you give your life to God, you speak to Him about everything that is not to His glory and you ask Him for His strength, day after day, to walk with Him.

Surely, there will be a reaction from heaven in your life and in a phenomenal way, because God is waiting for that from you.
