Summary of the preaching
Sunday, April 30th 2023 – Apostle Billey.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57
55 O Death, where is your sting ? O Hades, where is your victory ?
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Jesus Christ!
The Lord Jesus gave us the victory by giving his life as a sacrifice so that we could be forgiven and reconciled with the Father.
** What kind of victory is this?
Of any kind, of any type and in any field.
So you have to look at your life, see the weak points and know that through the Lord Jesus you can have the victory.
** What causes man to fail?
It is sin, it is disobedience to God.
And the consequences of sin are numerous: Having one’s own way; Not loving God; Not thinking about Him; Having rebellion in the heart; Etc…
So, originally, the problem is sin, rebellion, against God.
The first sin began with disconnection from God.
The victory will be to be connected to God, reconciled with God.
This reconciliation is the real victory.
For example, you can pray against the spirit of lies, and you will have victory in Jesus’ name.
You can ask for forgiveness, and the Lord will forgive you.
But since sin had already disconnected you from God in your way of life ;
So even if you have this victory over the lie and your life, your thoughts, your heart is not totally established for the Lord; Your victory will not remain for long.
** Sin has driven man away from God – whereas man should seek man?
Reconciliation with God.
This requires that as a Christian you readjust your priorities. God must therefore become your priority and you must then develop your relationship with Him.
If you want your victory to remain, and have other victories, seek to be reconciled with God.
By walking completely in His way, connected to Him, then you will have total victory.
That is, in all areas of your life: your home, your thoughts, at work…
Moreover, you will have peace in your heart.
You can have victory over a sin, but when your life with God is not established, that victory will not last.
Indeed, if you do not seek to be reconciled with God, you may lose your victory.
You must keep your victory by living in sanctification, keeping the word of God.
** The word of God is spirit and life.
God created us to be spirit. The letter kills.
Many Christians remain within the letter.
When Jesus says, I am here, you have heard, and you say amen! And yet, your attitude shows that you are not aware of his presence. So, you stayed at the level of the letter…
And all this leads to frustration, weakness, little impact in walking with God; although you know that God is true and his word is truth.
The Christian must not be weak. You must know that there are several areas: there is the letter and there is the spirit of what is said.
** So what should we do?
In your mind, you must be convinced.
And you have to get into the spirit of what Jesus said. And so, act on what he said.
If we take his word with a natural understanding, we will always be frustrated.
John 6.63
It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
The problem is that we want to operate naturally regarding spiritual things.
But the walk with God is spiritual. God is spirit; he created us spirit and we must conceive everything he tells us in spirit. Thus, we will no longer be manipulated by the enemy.
You must leave the natural level in order to act in spirit.
For example, the Lord said:
“And almost everything according to the law is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. ” (Hebrews 9.22)
When you grasp such a word, you must perceive the blood of Jesus in your spirit. You have to see the blood as it is, so you can use it.
What you can’t see, you can’t take. Everything happens in spirit.
The first step of faith always seems like madness.
Practice the word, believe what Jesus tells you and walk in the spirit.
Be reconciled with God.
Thus, you will have total victory, which you will keep in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
