Apostle Billey.
God created us in His image.
What is an image? It’s the spirit and the soul. And what both are capable of doing.
For example, God sees, so we see too. God speaks, thinks, decides, understands, perceives, He has will, desires, He has a personality, …so we too speak, think, decide, understand, perceive, we have desires…
All this is the image of God.
Sin is using one of these things to do evil. God did not create us to sin.
The body eats physical food. But the spirit and soul eat the word of God.
Eating the physical meal makes you physically strong. And the spiritual meal gives spiritual strength.
So whoever doesn’t eat spiritually becomes weak, his life becomes weak, he becomes easily manipulated.
Then everything bad in the world can affect that person’s spirit to the point where he can die spiritually.
We must therefore meditate on the Word, bringing it back to our minds constantly.
When a Christian listens to the Word, his soul and spirit are strengthened.
He who is not converted, his spirit is dead, so it cannot be so, for he lives only in the natural.
You must first be born again.
So as soon as this Christian opens his heart, his mind and soul can receive the Word.
Sometimes the heart can resist, it can be slow to understand so the Christian must decide to bring his heart to understanding.
Why is our heart sometimes slow?
The heart manages relationships and material things. And yet, before our conversion, for most of us coming from unconverted families, there was already evil practiced in our environment. So we acquired bad habits, the mechanism of evil was inscribed in our hearts.
At our conversion, Jesus washed away our sins. But the mechanism of evil can still be in our hearts. For this to disappear, the Christian must receive the Word.
We often say things out of formality. But with God it doesn’t have to be that way, everything has to be with the heart.
We must learn to set our hearts on God’s path.
In the church, there are those who listen with their spirit and others with their hearts.
John 6
47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.
48 I am the bread of life.
The bread of life is the Word.
Those who listen with their hearts alone cannot understand that what Jesus is saying is precious.
So all those who perceived physical bread alone were unable to follow Jesus.
So you must educate your soul to understand things in spirit, because walking with Jesus is spiritual.
49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die
Manna is physical.
Those who eat only physical bread are in danger, and must absolutely add spiritual food.
For it is only those who have the Word who can triumph in the desert.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.
What kind of flesh are we talking about? The Word.
Jesus took on a body only to come to earth. The body was made in Mary’s womb on earth, not in heaven. And he came to dwell on earth.
The person of Jesus is the Word of God. It is the Word that gives eternal life.
52 The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”
Here, they perceived with their hearts, because they were focused on the material.
But Jesus came to nourish our spirit.
Everything that nourishes the body comes from the earth. But everything that comes from God, from heaven, nourishes the spirit and the soul.
53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you
54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For My flesh is [k]food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
The flesh is the Word and the blood is the blood of the covenant.
And this covenant also comes with the Word.
If something oppresses you, remember the covenant you have with Jesus. Or simply bring a verse into your spirit, and automatically that bad spirit will go away. And if, in addition, you open your mouth to pray, it will be completely destroyed.
57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me
58 This is the bread which came down from heaven. It is not like your fathers who ate manna and died: he who eats this bread will live forever.
59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”
Those who do not accept the word, it is because they listen only with their heart and perceive things only materially. The Christian must perceive in spirit.
The soul can use thought, and so can the spirit.
If the soul is connected to the material, thoughts will be material thoughts.
But if it’s the spirit that has the advantage, it will cause the heart to think about the things of God.
At home, for example, if you’re angry with your partner.
Remember who you are, knowing that it’s your soul that’s doing this. Then you must resist and forgive. This is what we call self-control.
Because if you answer incorrectly, you could destroy your life or give access to the enemy.
God doesn’t allow me to stay angry, so I don’t let my heart take over, just my spirit.
61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you?
62 What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who the unbelievers were, and who was the one who would betray him.
65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.
66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?
68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Those who listened only with the heart went backwards. But the others didn’t let their hearts manipulate them. They received the Word in their spirits and hearts.
If we know our hearts, life on earth will be easy.
70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.
What did Judas do to hand Jesus over? or what didn’t he do?
He didn’t understand things in spirit. He perceived materially. What’s more, he kept the cash register. The love of money certainly entered him.
Jesus came to restore Man’s authority.
One of the things the devil destroys on earth is the value of man.
Man was the first to have a body, and he named all the animals.
God communicated with him, He was his support, He enlightened him.
But the devil prepared a plan so that he would no longer be under God’s cover, to destroy man.
Jesus came to earth and defeated Satan.
He who is not under the spiritual covering of Jesus, will be confused.
He’s going to lose his bearings, he’s only going to look for food, look for money. It will have no program, no ambition. He’ll just go out with friends, or be in the drink.
He won’t be able to pray for himself or his family, he won’t be able to be a sentinel to watch over his family in prayer, vigils…
He will only remember that he didn’t eat physically, but will be indifferent to spiritual nourishment.
He will be filled with frustration, anger, failure… Sadness is in him. And he sleeps without resting because he is in confusion.
Whoever is not under the shadow of the Lord Jesus will be in trouble.
He may have the money but he won’t be able to achieve things, the devil will steal his money. It will be defeated at every level.
The wise submit to Jesus and their lives will be restored.
