16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
God’s children are expected to always do the right thing. And with humility, we support one another by praying for one another.
We should not expose others’ weaknesses but pray for one another.
Psalm 55
Evening and morning and at noon, I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.
Daniel 6.10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
We must pray at all times.
It’s not good to become too rigid when it comes to prayer.
But we must not only pray in the morning and in the evening, but also between the morning and evening prayers; we must offer spontaneous prayers, even if only for a few minutes.
So we must learn to pray in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. And pray out loud, too.
How can I make it a habit to pray regularly?
There are several dimensions: the physical dimension and the spiritual dimension.
Physically, there are many things we can do: eat, talk to people, go to work, pursue our goals…
And on a spiritual level, we also have a lot to do: worship God, communicate with the Lord, receive from Him, talk to Him…
But when we are in the physical realm, we cannot easily enter the spiritual realm.
When you suddenly want to start praying, it’s as if you’re struggling—it’s hard, and the words don’t come easily.
Have you noticed that when you go on social media, it’s hard to pray afterward?
Social media is mentally draining.
Also, when we get caught up in the day’s activities, it will be hard to pray easily afterward.
So what can we do to immerse ourselves in prayer?
There are several possible solutions:
1/ First option—and this is the most recommended option.
It is best to practice staying connected to the Lord in your heart at all times.
Throughout all your daily activities at work, you should talk to God in your heart.
The heart belongs to God. It is our hands—or sometimes our thoughts—that we use at work or during our activities, so we can certainly speak to the Lord in our hearts.
That way, you’ll be able to pray at any time, because your spirit has been in contact with God all day long.
2/ Second option
In case the first solution wasn’t done all day. And in the evening, if you want to pray for the ability to connect more easily, you should start by thinking about God.
You take a truth and use it to lead your soul to think about God.
Then, when it comes time to pray, it will be easier.
3/ Third option
Since the first two couldn’t be done and it’s time for prayer, you can see that it’s difficult; so, we have to face the truth, speak up, and ask the Lord for forgiveness. Then ask Him for help.
The Lord will act, and you will be able to pray easily.
In all of this, it’s also important to understand that you have to be organized and disciplined.
Because you may intend to pray, but as soon as you start praying, five minutes later, it’s as if you have nothing left to say. And stop praying. This might become a habit. It shouldn’t be that way.
So it’s important not only to start the prayer well but also to see it through.
Here’s something that might help you move forward more effectively, stay disciplined, and achieve your goal: you can start by writing down what you’re going to say to God.
For example, decide on all the prayer topics you’re going to bring before the Lord during that hour.
For example:
For the next 5 minutes, I’m going to give thanks to the Lord.
After that, I’m going to ask for forgiveness (forgiveness for my house and me)
15 minutes later, I pray for my spouse
Five minutes later—so 20 minutes in total—I can say a prayer for child No. 1, then No. 2…
Pray for them in detail.
5 more minutes later: various topics. What do you want God to do for you?
For your family, work, prayer life, career, to know the Lord better, strength for sanctification, the conversion of our families, to receive the anointing for success, so that every hidden enemy may be exposed, so that every hidden sin may be exposed (any hidden sin within the family creates much division—“Lord, reveal what I do not know about myself”);
Pray for any specific projects, for the church, the sick, the various departments, the leaders, the nation, and its leaders…
There are many topics; we mustn’t lump them all together. Go through it step by step.
5 minutes is just an example—it could be longer; you might even do 20 minutes on certain topics, depending on the intensity.
We must persevere in prayer, because every time you ask for forgiveness, it undermines the works of darkness. Or whether you pray for this or that—it throws off their plans.
There are some Christians who say the same prayer every day. And they go around in circles during their time of prayer.
Establishing a routine and a structure for your prayer time will allow you to spend quality time with the Lord.
Beloved, let us not forget: before we pray, we must prepare ourselves. (3 solutions)
Give thanks to the Lord and ask the Lord for help during your time of prayer.
Use the blood of Jesus to surround and sanctify everything within us and around us.
Distraction may try to stop you. It’s the enemy who’s doing that.
(For example, by saying: “Lord, there is a force preventing me from praying; may it be destroyed.”)
We have to keep at it. You must never stop.
While you’re praying, you can refocus if you notice your thoughts have wandered. You adapt and keep going, making sure to speak from the heart.
Whenever you feel God’s presence, don’t stop.
You can adapt and even update your prayers based on the truth you see: “Lord, You are my light; You enlighten me…”
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16) That is why evil spirits don’t want you to pray. Anything that could lead to your promotion could be targeted, so you need to pray.
Beloved, be steadfast and persistent in prayer. Perseverance is a weapon. Never stop.
