2 Timothy 3
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
We have been at war ever since Adam’s fall. Day by day, year by year, this battle is becoming increasingly difficult because the Lord Jesus is coming soon.
If, for example, a Christian has a spirit of love of money, how can he overcome it, knowing that the love of money is an evil spirit, a demon?
It is by using the weapons of God. If he uses them correctly, he will win.
All these things—selfishness, pride, the love of money…—are demons. They hold men’s lives in their hands.
The devil’s work is to steal, slaughter, and destroy; that is his calling. That’s what he does to survive and become powerful.
Who can he kill? Only human beings.
So anyone who is unarmed will be at the mercy of evil spirits. He may go to church, but after just two days he loses his joy and forgets the message, the Word of God…
Who does that? It’s your enemies who do that. They make sure you don’t make any progress.
When a person does not love God, even though that person was created to love God. That means that God’s enemy is within that person.
And this enemy will push us to do bad things, to sin, to be lazy, to procrastinate, to get drunk on alcohol, to keep bad company…
All of this is called destruction.
That is how the strong become weak. The one who used to run but can no longer run. The man who was praying—a man of prayer who can’t seem to pray.
What is it? These are invisible attacks designed to destroy.
Beloved, you need the weapons of God. And so your enemy will be afraid of you.
There are several kinds of demons.
You must know God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And you also need to know your enemies—to know what they’re capable of.
For example, the United States knows all of its enemies; otherwise, it wouldn’t be one of the most powerful countries.
Ephesians 6
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
The Lord asks us to draw strength from Him.
Do not waver in your faith in God. You must be strong in Christ by drawing on His power.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
You must personally put on the armor. This will help you stay strong.
You belong to God, and you must take up His weapons. Adam and Eve had weapons, but they didn’t use them.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
You must not fight against your brothers, your sisters, your family, or anyone else. They’re not your enemies.
But the real enemies are evil spirits, principalities…
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Oppression, depression, discouragement, fear… These are the attacks of demons.
In our Kingdom, we live with our weapons. We sleep in it, we wake up in it—we’re wearing it all the time.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
The weapons of God: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the readiness that comes from the Gospel, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, prayer in the Spirit, and supplication.
In Roman times, that was how soldiers were supposed to dress. This is a metaphor being used here.
Let’s consider this practical example:
Two friends meet, and one starts making unfair accusations against the other: “You’ve hurt me, you’re dishonest, you’re mean…”
How might the accused feel? Discouraged, dejected.
Why? Because of what his friend said to him.
These words are the enemy’s weapons, used to discourage, weaken, and isolate him so that he can be easily destroyed.
The enemy tries to strike where your heart is to hurt you.
He wants to see you discouraged and dejected.
For example, he’ll try to go after your job, your money, your house…
If this brother takes the words spoken to him to heart, he will indeed be crushed.
Unkind words will first enter his mind and then his heart.
Just as arguments between couples and within families stem from the enemy’s schemes. Your enemy is the snake. Stop blaming your husband or wife.
What should we do as Christians? We should put a stop to all of this. Use your weapons.
1/ Wear the helmet of salvation. This means remembering that you are saved. Your thoughts are kept safe in Christ.
As a Christian, we don’t think about just anything, but about the things that lead to salvation.
In this way, our thoughts are protected from the enemy’s attacks.
In Christ, we develop the new nature we have received and abandon our old way of life. Wherever we go, we think about it.
2/ Use the shield of faith. By keeping Jesus’ Word in your heart, you will keep the faith. That way, bad words won’t be able to get into you. You’ll hear them, but they won’t have any effect on you.
Many people complain, saying that people don’t like me; they criticize me… And then they break down.
No, it must not be like this anymore; these are attacks by the enemy.
Remember who you are in Jesus; take up your armor. They are spiritual: the state of your heart, your thoughts, your attitude… all of these are your weapons.
3/ Take up the sword of the Spirit. We must also fight the spirit behind the person. But not the person, because we are not fighting against flesh and blood.

You need to open your mouth and pray, for example: “May all manipulation directed against my work be erased.” And everything is destroyed immediately.
That is what it means to wield the sword of the mind. This sword is not limited. It can act on Earth, in water, in forests, on the moon… throughout the entire universe.
And it can act not only in the future but also in the past. No matter what the weather is like.
As a child of God, your words are powerful. This is the legacy of the saints.
That’s why the devil will do everything he can to make you doubt what you say and plant seeds of doubt in your mind. So don’t let yourself be manipulated anymore. Use your weapons.
That is what Jesus did in Luke 4; He responded to the devil’s attacks by saying, “It is written…” He thus used the sword of the Spirit. That is what Eve lacked when she was attacked by the serpent.
4/The Belt of Truth.
The truth is a weapon. The analogy with the belt is because a soldier always wears a belt.
That is the truth you receive from Jesus. You have to have it with you at all times and stand on it. It becomes your weapon.
The truth is the foundation. She holds all the other weapons. It’s a Rock.
5/ The Armor of Justice.
It protects our vital parts. What is our armor of righteousness?
Christ has justified us. 2 Corinthians 5:21.
This protects the heart from sin and the works of darkness.
6. The shoes of the Gospel of Peace; the zeal that the Gospel of Peace inspires.
It means putting the Word into practice and living by it every day.
For those who walk rightly with God, it becomes a weapon in the war.
Someone who lives in sin will not be able to use their weapons when they come forward. For example, the sword he’s going to get won’t even work.
7. Prayer.
This is the weapon that activates all the other weapons.
8. Perseverance.
It is the ongoing effort to achieve the goal, to fulfill God’s will despite difficulties, delays, failures, obstacles, and a lack of support.
God’s weapons can be offensive or defensive. The armor: Shoes, the shield of faith, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the helmet of salvation.
Offensive moves: the sword of the mind.
Were Adam and Eve armed?
Yes, because they had received the word of God. The Tree of Life contained everything—all the instructions.
So, they had the Word, which contains all the weapons.
But they didn’t use those weapons. We don’t have to do this.
If we don’t use the right weapons for each situation, we won’t be able to fight effectively.
When you see that something is wrong, use every weapon at your disposal. If you feel fear, doubt, frustration, … It’s an attack. The enemy wants to colonize you.
Don’t let him push you around—use your weapons and destroy his agenda. And pray also for your home and for those who are there.
