Apostle Billey.
John 16.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
This is the Holy Spirit of whom the Lord spoke. And He came 50 days after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, Who did another 40 days, then ascended into heaven. And 10 days later the Holy Spirit came.
The Holy Spirit is God, the3rd person of the Trinity.
From Genesis to Zechariah, it was God the Father who was in action.
From Matthew to John, we speak of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And from the Acts of the Apostles, it’s the book of the actions of the disciples of the Lord Jesus, everything they did under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
From Acts to Revelation, it’s the Holy Spirit who’s much more in action.
This is the time of the Holy Spirit in the church, He is the one who sees much more, who teaches us, who comforts us, who strengthens us… He’s very powerful. He’s like Jesus’ twin.
It is He who convict humanity of sin, who convinces the Christian that he has become a child of God and speaks into his heart.
For those who are in a dilemma, sometimes they can hear two voices, one that urges evil and another that says do no harm. And this voice, which tells us to do good, is the voice of the Holy Spirit.
John 16.
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment :
When a person feels the need to ask forgiveness after a wrong, it’s the Holy Spirit who does that. Because the devil is never going to make anyone repent in order to have eternal life.
The Word is given to us, every week, every day, in the church, and let it touch us; it’s the Holy Spirit who does this.
Without Him, conversions are impossible.
Or when your brother is weak and you talk to him. And afterwards, he is strengthened, it’s the Holy Spirit who does this, it’s He who has used you for your brother’s life.
John 16
12 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
The Holy Spirit is a comforter, a giver of strength,
It’s called the Spirit of Truth. The Truth that is in Jesus, we cannot know that, it is He who enlightens us on all the mysteries that Jesus came to do.
It is He who teaches the Word, who revealed Christ to us, the cross, redemption, the parts of man…
Where should the Holy Spirit live, where should He stay?
Inside us.
1 Corinthians 6
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
Knowing that in our body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, there is the soul and the spirit, how should we manage our spirit and our soul?
Both must therefore be sanctified, since they belong to God.
Our spirit must communicate with the Holy Spirit and the soul must manage relationships and the things of this world according to the word of God, the Spirit.
When a person is converted, the Holy Spirit automatically occupies the temple.
And then there are many manifestations of the Holy Spirit.
When the Christian listens to the Word and decides to walk according to it, to put it into practice, he gives the opportunity to the Holy Spirit, to do what He must do in his Life.
For example, in the heart, there must be no hatred, no lies, no jealousy, no envy… because all these things are contrary to God’s way.
The heart that manages the relationship, if it is in conflict with a person, the Holy Spirit will not be at ease in the temple. As well as if there is in the heart: the love of money, jealousy…
That’s the mystery. That’s why the Holy Spirit, in a way, can’t do, and quickly, what He needs to do in the Christian’s life, because the Christian doesn’t give Him that opportunity.
When the Holy Spirit gives The Word, His desire is that we may practice. He is the Spirit of Truth. So he’ll even reveal to us what we are, he’ll reveal the state of our hearts to our pastor, so that he can teach. All this is the work of the Holy Spirit.
So whoever opens his heart, will be approved by the Holy Spirit and He will put more grace into that person’s life. And the Christian thus baptized will receive more spiritual gifts for the Holy Spirit to use.
Consider this:
You’re in a house, receiving a guest. But he’s the one who tells you what to do: You give him rice, but he doesn’t want it and asks for manioc; You give him water, but he wants fruit juice; You show him the guest room to sleep in, but he wants to sleep in the master bedroom…
How are you feeling?
Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, his home. It’s not a rental or just passing through. We have been redeemed so that He may dwell in us.
When Jesus went to the cross, the Holy Spirit and the Father were present and suffering too. It’s a plan the Three of Them have hatched for us to be saved.
That’s why it is written that we are the dwelling place of God the Father, the body of Jesus, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Between you and the Holy Spirit, who is invited into the body? It’s you.
So we must obey His commands. But we always want to do what we want in His house, even though He is the owner. It has been the home of the Holy Spirit since the first day of conversion.
You thought the devil was good, but he showed you his true nature. And now that you want to chase him away, he won’t leave. And on the contrary, it dominates you in this house. The devil pushes you into anger, frustration, jealousy…
Now that Jesus has come and cast out the devil so that he can set you free and reclaim the house you had given over to Satan.
So, now that the house has been repossessed, what should you do? Who will you submit to – the law of the Spirit or the law of the flesh? Are you going to continue doing what the devil led you to do?
John 16. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…
Jesus thus says that the Holy Spirit is the spirit of Truth. And that what has been destroyed, damaged, stolen in our lives, the Holy Spirit, will then teach us and help us restore home and relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
Where does sexual immorality develop? In the heart.
Where is the heart? In the body.
Where does the Holy Spirit live? In the body.
That’s why we need to sanctify our spirits and souls so that the Holy Spirit can be at ease in His temple.
And if He’s comfortable in His temple, that person will blossom quickly.
Beloved, you are a new person, redeemed and resurrected.
So you have to cleanse your heart every day. You must repent and rid yourself of every evil, every sin in your soul. We must love one another, exhorting one another without criticizing…
If we walk into a house and everyone is smoking, are you going to stay? If you get into a car in the middle of winter and the driver smokes, will you stay in the car with the window closed?
So can the Holy Spirit remain in a life where there is sin?
Christians waste a lot of time, they want to live with God but at the same time they love the world, sin, anger, they don’t like to forgive, they hate their brothers, …
They don’t realize that God sees everything in their hearts.
Mark 7.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.
So what is God asking of us?
The answer is in :
1 Thessalonians 4.
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
That’s what many do, and they stagnate in their relationship with God.
Beloved, it does not have to be this way for us. We must go forward, we must be blessed.
The body is God’s temple before it’s yours. It is God who has invited you to His temple. He’s not invited into His temple, you are. Everything belongs to Him.
For example: Your parents’ house, it’s true it’s your house too, but in reality it’s their house, they’re the ones who built/bought it. They made you live in this house and you’ve been living here for 30, 45, 50 years… So much so that you’ve forgotten it was your parents’ house. Your father is the real owner. You must therefore manage this house according to your father’s instructions and heart.
It’s the same with the Holy Spirit, you have to sanctify, purify, manage the house according to Him, the owner. Whoever does so will be raised to another dimension with God by the Holy Spirit. This is what happened at Pentecost. These people have separated themselves from the world. It wasn’t easy, the world rejected them, they were marginalized, walking with Jesus was a disgrace…Many left, but only 120 continued to walk steadfastly with Jesus. They renounced themselves and followed Jesus.
Those who have been baptized are dead to the world and alive only to Jesus.
The Lord said in :
Luke 9.
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
The cross is all the sacrifices you have to make for the Lord, in order to have the Lord.
That’s why there’s a big difference between the first Christians and today.
Evangelizing, interceding and praying for the church, …all these things have become difficult for the Christian because there is no sacrifice. They prefer to think of themselves and pray only for themselves. They have no time for church despite the needs they see.
Beloved, it is the Holy Spirit who strengthens us, blesses us, orients us, speaks to us, tells us all there is to do, opens our eyes to know Jesus…to be able to walk with the Lord Jesus.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS, Let Us Pray… →
Lord Holy Spirit,
My body is Your temple.
Forgive me every time I defile Your temple.
Holy Spirit, grant me the grace of Your presence.
Help me so that my spirit, soul and body may be sanctified for You.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
