Apostle Billey.

John 8.1_11

3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst

4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”

6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.

7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.

11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Here we have three groups of people: the scribes & Pharisees, the adulterous woman and the Lord Jesus.

We’re going to get to the heart of these groups.

1/ What state of mind did these Pharisees have? What was driving them?

The spirit of condemnation, accusation, lack of forgiveness, lack of love, hatred, pride, self-righteousness, anger, lack of compassion…

2/ What is the woman’s state of mind?

Humiliation (because of his act), shame, regret, despair, fear, guilt…

3/ What is the state of mind of the Lord Jesus Christ?

Compassion, love, forgiveness, mercy, grace, the spirit of truth, justice, deliverance, restoration…

If we’ve managed to perceive the state of mind of these three groups, it’s because we can perceive what’s in our own hearts too.

How do you sound out your heart?

We must not exclude ourselves, but project ourselves into what the Lord is talking about.

As we know, in this world there are often victims and condemners, and at one time or another those who condemn can also be victims.

If we look at our lives, we’ll see that at times in our lives, we’ve been judged and condemned, so we’ve been victims.

But we too, at some point in our lives, have condemned people.

So who can deliver this world and forgive the evil we have done?

It’s only the Lord Jesus.

That’s why we need to evangelize.

Ephésians 5

10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

Who should review it? Spirit, soul or body?

1 Corinthians 2. 11 answers this question.

11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

So it’s with our minds that we examine our hearts.

To examine means to analyze, to check, to observe carefully in order to monitor, to control.

Analyze intentions and thoughts, check your heart, probe your life, examine your decisions.

We need to inspect our lives: is there a spirit of condemnation, of accusation…? Am I working for God the way He wants me to? What is my prayer level?…

We have the right to know what’s going on inside us.

A good Christian must expose his life to the light of God’s word every day.

2 Corinthians 13.5

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? unless indeed you are disqualified.

The group of Pharisees did not examine themselves before coming before Jesus. They came with a spirit of self-justice.

But Jesus is the truth, the light that reveals what is in the darkness.

That’s how their conscience accused them.

John 8

7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.

9 When they heard this, they withdrew one by one, accused by their conscience, from the oldest to the last; and Jesus was left alone with the woman who was there in the middle.

Beloved, the Word is our mirror.

James 1

23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Through the Word, I look at myself. In the same way, I include myself by reading and meditating on the Word. And so when I see my face, I can then turn to Jesus Christ and ask Him for forgiveness.

But if the Lord judges me, it will be terrible.

Suppose a brother lent me his car and I had an accident. Then I go to him to confess and apologize.

Probably the brother’s attitude towards me will be more lenient.

But if I don’t go to him to reveal myself and he finds his car broken. How will it feel?

He will certainly be angry, perhaps even violent in his words and actions.

What lessons can we learn?

If I judge myself, I will no longer be judged. I would no longer be condemned. Because if it’s the other guy, he’ll condemn me more firmly.

So Jesus came to save us so that we would no longer be condemned.

In this world, there’s a spirit of accusation, it’s the spirit of the devil, but whoever runs to Jesus is set free.

It’s best to go to Jesus voluntarily when we see the evil in ourselves.

Let’s not wait to be accused by the enemy.

For whoever goes to Jesus will no longer be condemned. Let’s learn to search our hearts ourselves every day.

No matter how small a sin may seem, a sin is always a sin, no matter how small.

We have the opportunity, the blessing of being able to go to Jesus. This is Passover.

Jesus suffered for us, He paid in advance for our sins, our bad deeds.

It’s the altar of grace.

Whoever goes to this altar will be delivered. And Satan will no longer be able to claim anything from his life, because the blood of Jesus is powerful enough to save permanently.

Before Satan became Lucifer, he was an angel of light, a shining star.

And he didn’t fear God for the very quick space of a moment, and he was precipitated.

This means that someone can be close to God but still find himself in sin, unless he constantly searches his heart, controls his mind.

Consider this from a brother who gave this testimony:

He had made some serious mistakes and had an accident. He was in a coma and had a vision.

He arrived in a place where people were crying, shouting, lamenting and asking God for forgiveness, asking for a second chance. An angel appeared to him and said: the Lord has sent me so that you may see what happens after your time on this earth, when you refuse grace.

Go and tell everyone what you’ve seen, and tell them that just as the earth is real, so is hell. And heaven is more real than anything else.

And the Lord allowed him to see a young man in his twenties. An old classmate.

He asked him what had happened to make him come to this place. He was so surprised because this young man had the Bible. It was so contradictory.

The angel replied that this young man was going to church, but unfortunately, he wasn’t following instructions, but in reality, he was doing what he wanted.

The fire consumed the young man’s body like ashes. And after a few seconds, his body was back in shape, maggots were gnawing at him, he was crying, fire was tearing his arm off. But his arm kept growing back, and it went on and on…

And the brother heard the voice of Jesus saying, “I went to the cross for him, so that he wouldn’t pay for his sins, in hell; I went to the cross to pay for his sins, so that everything that was to send him to hell would be erased…”

Then the angel said to the brother, when you arrive on earth: “Live as you should, because you won’t get a second chance”.

And that’s how this brother had the grace to come out of his coma and come back to life, to tell us these things.

Jesus said: “I suffered like this so that this young man would suffer no more. He came to this earth and paid it all forward so that he could be saved.

Beloved, it is impossible to come to Jesus and be condemned, impossible not to be forgiven of one’s sins, or restored.

That’s why the adulteress was saved.

The Pharisees, without realizing it, in taking this woman to Jesus to be stoned, were in reality doing so that she might be forgiven, saved and restored.

We must use our free choice / free will to decide to go to Jesus.

If you have a sin in your life, in your thoughts, like the first group of people, ask forgiveness with all your heart.

Or if you’re rather accused, downcast, humiliated, like the second group, go to Jesus too, He’ll deliver you.

Jesus came to deliver everyone, which is what we also call the Passover.
