Apostle Billey.
Genesis 1.
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Walking with God is not a physical walk, but a spiritual one: from spirit to spirit.
If we are asked the question: Have you given your heart to Jesus? You have to know why you’re saying yes. God says, “Rejoice with all your heart,” but how do you do it?
This is what many Christians fail to understand. And over time, the sense of spirit was lost.
Someone can go to church for years and not know what’s in their heart, or even their spirit.
But how can you walk with One Spirit when you don’t know the laws of the spirit? How can you understand God who is Spirit if you don’t try to find out what spirit is?
We must understand these things in order to have victory.
It is the spirit that governs, that reigns, that has authority, that is powerful, that establishes things.
As a Christian, you have to get out of the spirit of religion.
Otherwise, you’ll end up saying that Jesus isn’t powerful, that He didn’t do anything for you, even if you don’t say it audibly, you’ll say it in your heart. Because your way, your reasoning … you want to impose it on God.
Beloved, leave your way and take the way of Jesus.
We must listen to God with our spirits. It’s not the body that listens, it’s the spirit.
But the devil has shaped the world so much that some people think it’s their heart that’s listening when it’s not, and so they receive nothing.
Genesis 1.
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have decided in conclave to create a creature in Our image and likeness who will have dominion.
So God created us to have dominion over everything.
That’s why we can kill animals without any problem, but anyone who touches or kills a human being will be in serious trouble. For man is made in God’s image and exists for a purpose. If you’ve hurt a man, you’ve hurt God.
God has no body, so the image of God is His nature, His character, i.e. everything that is in Him.
He took everything He had to create man.
God speaks, we speak. It decides, it loves, it thinks, it has a personality, it has emotions, it imagines…it’s the image.
All this is in the realm of the spirit.
For example, if you use your desires to do evil, that’s called sin.
Imagine a king or a father with a son. And this son, esteemed because of his father’s position, goes and steals in the neighborhood.
What happens next?
He’ll lose esteem and be seen only as a thief. Even if he asks for forgiveness, that’s the way it’s going to be.
Why? Because it is only the blood of Jesus that erases sin.
God is holy and expects us to be holy. No compromise should be attached to this, i.e. you can’t say it’s hard to be holy.
The law is for everyone.
God made the law the same for everyone. All must sanctify themselves in the law of the New Covenant.
A child who doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps is a rebellious child.
Beloved, you must leave sin, gossip, accusations, evil… And purify your soul. Then the devil will have nothing in you, and you’ll see God’s grace in your life.
In verse 26, it is the spirit that has been created.
That’s why the spirit is always ready for the things of God.
Genesis 1
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [h]moves on the earth.”
God has blessed the spirit, the image he created.
Who was God talking to? To the body? No to the spirit of man and woman.
God is Spirit and speaks to the spirit. He created us to have a relationship with Him.
This implies that for man to respond, he must do so with his spirit as well.
Which is why, beloved, when you pray, don’t get distracted, don’t do anything else. Take all the time you want and talk to your father: spirit to Spirit. Don’t lean on your body.
You can decide to pray, whatever position you take, you close your eyes, you close yourself to all distractions around you, without hurrying, even if it’s 10,20 minutes, one hour, two hours… You take the time you want and you approach your Father who is the King of kings and say to him for example:
“Lord, I thank you for creating me in your image. I am happy. I need your help, this life is very difficult. There’s so much confusion in this world, I need you to guide me. Lord, guide me in what I must do. Because if you let me do what I want, I’ll end up in hell. I know you don’t like this, help me and let everything in me be according to You…in Jesus’ name.”
What’s next?
You may hear a voice coming back to you, or see fruits in you: peace, joy, humility, faith, assurance… It’s God who puts these things on to let you know that He has heard.
Or He can also put the anointing on you, it can seem like oil or air blowing on you…
In this presence, you can take authority to destroy what needs to be destroyed.
What the Lord doesn’t like is that while you’re talking to Him, you’re thinking about other things, when the thoughts of your heart are distracted. You must pray in spirit, spirit to Spirit.
This is different from praying in tongues, which is prayer by the spirit too.
But what we’re talking about here, praying in the spirit, is engaging our spirit to speak to God who is Spirit.
Consider how the Lord Jesus prayed, always in the spirit.
John 17.
1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent
4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. 6 I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. 8 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.
9 I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours
This is a conversation of communion with His Father – He makes His assessment to His Father. Just as God is our Father.
Did we notice that the Father didn’t say anything audible? Did he say “I agree or disagree? …”
Beloved, when you pray, don’t necessarily expect God to answer or encourage you. Speak to Him with confidence, for you are His child.
Many expect to hear God as their friend. With God it’s not like that.
He hears everything you say, even the thoughts of your spirit and heart. You’ll hear it one way or another, it can imprint its peace, joy…on you.
Develop this relationship with Him and your inner man will grow easily.
The Lord’s prayer in John 17 has been answered to this day, yet nothing has been audibly said by the Father.
Genesis 2.
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
God created the spirit first. Then his body was formed from dust. But the man was like a statuette, unable to do anything. Then God breathed into his nostrils, a special breath from Himself. This is called the heart or soul.
God breathed into the body so that the soul could manage the body, which comes from dust.
We must not use God’s breath to do harm. The spirit and soul belong to God, come from Him, so we are already connected to Him.
Beloved, this means that if you spend 5 hours in front of the mirror for your body, don’t forget to spend 5 hours for your soul and 5 hours for your spirit, i.e. 10 hours in front of the mirror of the Word of God.
You have to be right with yourself and nurture every part of you.
The life of man is spiritual, the spirit and soul come from God and are spiritual. So choose to live and walk in the spirit.
