Genesis 3
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.
There are two lineages: that of the woman and that of the serpent.
The woman’s offspring is Jesus Christ.
He is the one about whom it was prophesied that he would crush the serpent’s head.
The serpent’s offspring are those who receive its seed. 1 John 3:8
The serpent is connected to man through sin.
That is why we must reject sin in all its forms: desires, thoughts, intentions…
So there is a struggle between the two lineages.
John 10
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
There are two missions.
The devil’s plan is to steal… Steal what? Peace, joy, grace, potential, focus, a life of prayer, marriage…
On the other hand, the mission of the Lord Jesus is to give life in abundance.
Adam and Eve were at peace with God when the serpent came and told them, “You will not die…” . It was meant to confuse them.
Yet in God, there is no confusion.
When God speaks, you have to accept it 100%. So it will be difficult to let ourselves be overcome by the confusion caused by the serpent.
If Eve had held God’s word deep within her, if that Word had been firm within her—even categorical—then the confusion the serpent brought would not have been very great.
The degree of confusion depends on how we accept God’s instructions.
Life is confusing for some people around the world, depending on the extent to which they have accepted God’s truth.
This truth must be within us—and 100 percent.
Let’s take the example of two young people who decide to get married.
The challenges they face can cause confusion. And this confusion will depend on the degree to which each is accepted in the heart.
The party that has not agreed 100% will be confused.
For example, if the man accepted the woman because of money, that means that once he runs out of money, there will be trouble. Because the start was a false start.
Thus, when God speaks, if His message has not been fully accepted or if it has not been understood from the outset, great confusion can ensue.
Genesis 3
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
A voice contrary to what God had said was heard.
There are now two paths ahead of her.
Let’s imagine what that might have done to her inside.
Even though God had told them, “You will die,” the other voice said, “You will not die.”
How must she have felt?
What was going on inside her, what she was feeling deep within herself—that is what we call the mind.
So the serpent was trying to manipulate his mind and his life. (Man is spiritual)
The way we perceive and feel things—that is the mind.
It may not seem like much, but that is what life is—that is the spirit.
And it is this life that we bring before God.
Genesis 3
5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
After the serpent said that, the confusion sort of stopped.
When she heard that, she rejected God. It may be only a little bit in her, but it’s already there.
Suspicion of God was thus sown by the serpent’s words. That’s the process.
The serpent tempted Eve to follow his path in order to bring about rejection and disgrace against God.
And so she rejected God and listened to the serpent.
So the temptation in Eve comes from the serpent’s voice.
How can you protect your life?
We need to be mindful of anything we see or hear that creates such a feeling.
We must pay attention to every feeling within us. We must learn to take control of our lives.
It’s not just a feeling; we must resist it and destroy it.
Consider this:
One colleague approached another and said, “We can be rich.”
We need 2 million to start with, and we’re going to invest it. Then it will yield ten times as much in just one year.
He didn’t have that money in his account, but the company where he works did.
So his coworker suggested that he could take the money and replace it later, since he had access to the company’s records. It would be like a kind of loan.
What do you think this might have caused in that man?
Probably the feeling that he could do that—”borrow and then return”—without anyone knowing.
That desire is part of life.
You need to know what you want: it’s you—your mind.
Your desire isn’t separate from your life. It affects your life.
The moment a decision is made, your life is on the line.
And so, unfortunately, this man ended up leading a life of evil.
Similarly, a woman was tricked by a sorcerer. He came to tell her that he needed a soul to make a sacrifice. And during her conversation with him, she agreed to the wizard’s request without realizing it. Then, a few weeks later, her child died.
Beloved, a person may be strong today and weak tomorrow. Or, he might love and praise God today, and by tomorrow, it’s all over.
What causes this? What happened between those two moments?
It all happened inside.
Your thoughts, your desires, your emotions, your gaze, your strength, what you hear… are all part of you.
All of these elements must be preserved in order to take control of one’s life.
Anyone who doesn’t realize that wishing for something bad can affect their life is likely to keep doing so. Even though he hasn’t yet grasped it, this desire within him is already a spiritual connection.
Our thoughts are connections. What we think about connects us to that thing. If it’s a good thing, that’s fine, but if it’s a bad thing, then the mind is tainted.
Why is that?
God originally created us in His image. He is holy, and we, too, must be holy. Everything that concerns us is therefore pure.
But the concept of man is as if we were independent of God.
Yet we are in God; we are in His heart. We are His children; we are one with Him.
The human concept is that the child and the parent are independent, but with God, that is not the case.
The division and confusion among humankind began in Genesis 3.
Once confusion has set in, it’s easy for the devil to manipulate that person from that point on.
Just as confusion left the serpent and entered Eve. And from that moment on, Adam and Eve were as good as lost until they left the earth.
But in the New Covenant, we have the opportunity to be cleansed of sin through the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus. This confusion can be dispelled so that we may live in harmony with God.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS, let us pray… →
Lord, I bless Your name.
The life I have is the life of Jesus.
Holy Spirit, help me to live as God wants me to.
May I be completely grounded in God’s way, His word, and His instructions;
May nothing weaken me—neither spiritually, nor physically, nor mentally;
May the light of Your Word enlighten my mind;
May I stand firm in You;
Because I belong to Jesus.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
