Apostle Billey.

Matthew 6

5 When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites, who like to pray standing in synagogues and on street corners, to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they receive their reward.

Here, the Lord Jesus is talking about those who like to be seen by men.

It is the attitude of the heart that the Lord underlines that is not the one that God loves.

6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Beloved, if I have the same attitude of heart as the one in verse 5, even if I enter my home and close the door, it will be no different from the Pharisee praying in the street.

For the Lord is interested in the attutude of the heart.

We are God’s temple.

Which door is the Lord Jesus talking about in verse 6?

From the door of distraction.

This is different from the door of which the Lord speaks in Revelation 3.20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock…

How does God knock? Through His Word.

As a child of God, we don’t wait for God to knock, we open directly to Him. Because we know He’s there.

However, in verse 6, the Lord Jesus explains that in the temple, the Father is already there. So you have to close the door on distraction.

As you enter the house, the temple, the heart, the Father is already inside and you can communicate with Him in the secret place.

What is the secret place?

It’s not just about being in a room, it’s about intimacy with the Lord in the heart.

And this intimate conversation with God will set the Christian free.

Ephésiens 2.22

In whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

We are God’s home.

So when the Christian prays and there is distraction, the Lord calls it hypocrisy. It’s like being a Pharisee, talking to God with a distracted heart.

For example, the person prays but thinks about work and food. The person is elsewhere, outside God

Like the Pharisee, he prays, but his heart is seeking the esteem of those who are passing by. His spirit is not with God, but elsewhere.

God doesn’t want all that, He wants the secret place. When you praise Him, it must be sincere, not empty words. The prayer is not valid because there is distraction.

Intimacy with God grows. That’s why we pray for the soul to be totally connected to God.

So when a Christian prays with a committed heart, he’s not talking to men, but to God. The spiritual secret.

When we talk about secrecy, we’re not talking about whispering. But to master his heart and turn it to God alone.

You need to be more aware of God’s presence than of the physical things around you.

In other words, it’s between you and God in the temple.

Whether I pray out loud or inside, and praise God that way, I’m in the secret place.

Since the Lord is here, you must not ignore him. From time to time, you speak to Him: “Lord, You are great, You are wonderful, Lord, I love You…”. And even when you’re at work, or going about your business, you keep it up. And God will answer you too.

Beloved, we are a movable temple, so we must not forget that God is in it. So wherever you go, you need to be aware that God is present.
