Luke 15

17 But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you

19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants

20 And he arose and came to his father. As he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, running to his neck and kissing him.

Before this son took the step of going back to his father, he had given it some thought. The characteristics he had at the start: he was full of pride, lacking consideration for his father and anyone else, very disrespectful, full of himself, of the love of the world… He didn’t consider his father’s pain, nor what others might think.

He couldn’t see beyond the tip of his nose; his only interest was his own.

That’s how we were, before our regeneration in Jesus, and even sometimes after that: pride, selfishness, our first and last objective was ourselves, we did what we wanted in relation to our body or our soul.

19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants

But as soon as the son returned to himself, he lowered himself to the level of a laborer, he no longer saw his condition, he had even erased from himself that he was a child because of what he had done…

By acknowledging his mistake, by making this decision, He was positioned as a new person. He began to “see” again. He was ready to bear all the consequences of what his former attitude had caused.

He forgot all about himself, no matter how much the workers laughed at him, or how badly he was treated; the most important thing for him was to be in his father’s house and to serve him.

He now saw the Father’s interests. His priority and objective are no longer him.

It is this “new person” that we are in Christ. We have decided to leave the old things behind and the spirit that has been regenerated must take control over the soul.

We are a new person through the work of the cross. And this must be manifested in our lives.

That’s why everything we do must be for God, not for ourselves.

Colossians 3

23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

Remember, every time the Lord Jesus performed a miracle, the crowd glorified God.

Matthew 9

8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

And Jesus, right up to the cross, sought to do only His Father’s will.

Matthew 26

39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; Nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

This is how the new man must seek to please God and not himself. And this, whatever the opposition from men, women, demons…

Beloved, as a new man/woman, you must watch over your soul, your heart, so that you always seek to do the Father’s will and not the will of the flesh.

Therefore, it is written:

Galatians 5

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The spirit will always seek to please God.

And since we are born of God, of the Spirit, we must seek to please Him and not the flesh.

That’s why we need to bring everything in us into submission to God.

2 Corinthians 10

5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

The new man, in spirit, must destroy everything that opposes His Father.

We must decide not to walk against our Father and thus train our soul to submit to the will of the spirit.

It is a power we have to be able to submit all things to the obedience of Christ.

Beloved, you are mighty in Christ.

Jesus did not leave us unarmed. He equipped us to represent him.

And so, everything in our lives, and at every level, must be for the Lord.

Colossians 3

23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

The enemy does not remain silent, with nothing to do, while we grow in Christ.

So let’s do everything for the Lord, even eating and drinking must be done for the Lord.

1 Corinthians 10.31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Even when we work, let’s do it for the Lord.

No company can pay us for the sacrifices we make, the time we spend… We don’t get paid what we deserve.

But if we learn to do all things for the Lord, then the reward that will come will be beyond what man can pay.

This is what the Lord calls us to do.

The prodigal son had to go through all these difficulties before he could understand the benefits of staying in his father’s house.

What he saw outside made him realize that he was really well off.

We must keep our position in Christ. It’s a wonderful position to be in, compared to where we’ve been in the past.

It’s the new man who does exploits with Christ, who receives the Lord’s revelations, who experiences God’s presence, and who understands and sees that in fact the enemy has no power.

We must practice the truth, watch over our hearts so that the enemy never takes us back again. And also, to do all things for the Lord.

This is how we build faith, endurance, perseverance in the Lord, by setting our eyes on Him, making God our priority, seeking to please Him.

And our Lord, who is good, is going to make sure that even the little things the enemy was doing, can no longer get to you by making you see beyond those things. And He will give you the joy and peace that surpasses all things.

Luke 15

20 And he arose and came to his father. As he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, running to his neck and kissing him.

The prodigal son set out, in other words, he began to practice.

And he hadn’t even reached the middle of his practice, when his father himself came to him.

Remember in Matthew 28, when the two Marys ran to announce the good news, Jesus came to meet them.

Matthew 28

8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.

Beloved, the Lord is always ready, all He asks is that we make the decision and stand up, then He will do the rest. Where it was difficult or complicated before, it will be easy from the moment we make the decision and decide to walk according to it, the Lord Jesus himself will come to meet us.

Luke 15

22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.

23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;

The prodigal son has been restored by his father to a position he didn’t even have before. He was honored beyond belief.

The new person in Christ is clothed in the glory of God. From the moment the Christian decides to walk and practice what he has received, he is clothed in the glory of God.

The prodigal son was clothed in new clothes, sandals, a ring of authority… everything he didn’t have before. And even the workers who see him can’t even go back and open their mouths about what he’s done in the past, because his father lifted him up. And by elevating him in this way, he silenced all voices of opposition, all that might be raised, and all accusations against the son.

In the same way, the Lord has clothed us in new garments, all that was of our past the enemy cannot use against us, for he has silenced all the voices, all the claims of the enemy so that when we are seen we are clothed in this glory, and the enemy can do nothing, we are filled with God’s authority.

We need to know and understand this. So when we come together to pray as a church, it will be nothing but fire.

Because as a new man, we are constantly connected to God.
