Luke 16.11
Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Testimony :
I thank the Lord for the time of fasting and prayer we had, for the Lord has visited me.
Not long before, one day I was praying and sharing the Word with an older brother. And at the end, he asked me if I gave my tithes and offerings. I replied that I did, but not on a regular basis. He urged me to do it because he had received from the Lord that I should do it with regularity. I listened but I didn’t obey.
A week before the start of the fast I was praying with a sister and the Lord revealed the same thing to her. She spoke to me, I listened, but I still didn’t obey.
When the fasting period began, we had been taught about the need for deep repentance so I repented.
One morning after the 5 o’clock prayer, I had a vision. And the Lord was showing me glorious things, in my spiritual life and in my everyday life. These were very good things that were mine, but I didn’t have access to them.
I woke up from my vision with fear inside me. And I prayed, and I also understood that it was due to my attitude of heart in relation to tithes and offerings.
I then went to see and pray with the man of God. And without saying a word, I explained the vision to him, and we prayed. Then he asked me if I was regular with my tithes and offerings.
It was like a confirmation in my heart of what the brother and sister had told me some time before.
Then after listening to the Word, I went home and repented with all my heart.
And the Lord himself, in Genesis 22, reminded me of the story of Abraham and his son. It was hard for Abraham to sacrifice his son, but he had obeyed the Lord. I then realized that through my own desires I had blocked my blessings.
All this helped me understand that when we ask the Lord, He gives us. But despite this, I murmured and robbed God, wanting to keep everything for myself. I had been selfish. Yet when things aren’t going well, I run to Him and He’s always there for me.
After this repentance, the Lord gave me the grace to be regular in my tithes and offerings, and since then I have been restored in my finances and even in several other areas of my life.
I come to encourage us not to do what I did, it’s important to obey God’s Word, and it’s the Lord alone who blesses us.
