Apostle Billey.
Galatians 5
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
We were born into a sinful nature that we had inherited. So much so that we practiced this sinful nature until we came to Jesus.
For example, jealousy, hatred, quarrels, rebellion… all these are manifestations of the sinful nature. And these things are visible.
Only in Jesus can we be uprooted from evil.
How do you do it? We need to be part of it. For the Lord will send His Word. And we must receive it.
Now that we’ve decided to walk with Jesus, we must voluntarily decide to spend time, to make efforts to know God, to invest God in our spirit. And this is a daily battle.
Because the world won’t want it, old nature will oppose it. Just as life’s circumstances, your agenda, your heart’s desires contrary to God’s…will work against you.
So, if we don’t have the Word in us, we risk falling back into the old nature.
That’s why we need to make the effort to come constantly before God through the Word and prayer.
And the Lord who is Great will help you, for He will have seen in you the decision you have made.
Galatians 5
16 I say therefore: Walk according to the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
The spirit and soul come from God and are nourished by the Word of God.
To walk according to the Spirit is to walk according to what God has said.
But how do you walk? It’s by practicing the Word of God.
It’s a spiritual walk.
To walk with man, you need the soul. Because it’s the soul that manages relationships. So man only needs his soul, which is in his body, to walk with a human being.
To walk with God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, you need spirit and soul.
Galatians 5.
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, [e]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The flesh is our sinful nature and develops in the soul/heart.
Any sexual relationship outside marriage is against the Word of God. What human beings use for debauchery is the body.
But it all begins in the heart. That’s why we need to master our souls: the desires, the thoughts of our hearts, our eyes, what we hear.
By doing so, you will conquer the devil. Because he can’t do anything without your soul’s consent.
When you master/know your soul, Satan will fail against you. He’ll try, but he won’t be able to succeed because he’ll see God in you.
All sin begins in the heart.
Conflict begins when the soul does not act according to the Word. Then the person will find it hard to walk with God.
We must therefore know the desires of our hearts; intentions must be pure.
We must be pure of heart.
How can I be pure of heart?
To have a pure heart is not only to pray, but to resist all kinds of impurities and temptations, to reject covetousness…
For example, watching a weird movie will bring lust into the soul. And the soul will push the body to seek satisfaction in order to have this pleasure.
James 1.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
We can have desires in the heart or desires in the mind.
The desires of the heart that are formed without God’s will are evil; they are the desires of the flesh. This is what leads to temptation.
Practically all the devil’s temptations begin this way.
When we look at something, it’s not the body that’s looking, but in reality it’s the soul.
When I look, there are intentions, thoughts… associated with it.
Jacques 4.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Lustful requests to satisfy the flesh / personal desires are not pleasing to God.
But if we ask in relation to God, for the glory of God, then we will be answered.
For example, if a person has a friend who has bought an airplane. The person who saw this developed desires.
But he didn’t have enough money, so he went to God and asked for an answer so that he could have a plane too.
We then say that this type of prayer is made according to the passions of one’s heart, according to one’s own desires.
But on the contrary, if that person does a job that requires him or her to have an airplane. Then his prayer won’t be for himself, but for God’s work.
So, in this case, his prayer can be answered.
The same applies to any subject of prayer: marriage, children… Don’t ask to satisfy your own desires.
The Lord won’t accept it, but only if it’s to glorify His name.
The intention must be for God.
Don’t say, for example, Lord, that my husband or wife loves me. But rather that my spouse may love You Lord.
That’s how your spouse loves God, so He’ll make your spouse love you.
Mark 7
20 And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.
Bad thoughts are formed in the soul.
So what can you do to stop bad thoughts?
We must resist by confessing the Word of God. Refuse _ cast out _ declare the Word of God.
For example, while you’re fasting, the soul will check to see if the body is hungry. And if so, the soul will start thinking about food.
The devil can even send someone to eat the meal you like in front of you when you’re determined to fast.
If you listen to the enemy, he won’t stop. The next day, he’ll continue to take you down through manipulation.
You have to resist through the Word and bring your thoughts back to your objective, the Word. That’s how you win.
Beware of thoughts and words that don’t encourage us. The enemy injects it. It’s to slow down your prayer life, your relationship with God.
Beloved, let us be brave and resist the voices, evil seeds … in our hearts that constantly seek to make us disobey God.
Let’s strip our souls of all that’s evil.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS, Let Us Pray… →
Lord Jesus, I belong to you,
My heart is a meeting place with You.
May my soul be purified by the power of Your Word.
May my soul be stripped of the works of darkness.
Restore my spirit and soul.
May Your spirit dwell in me always.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
