Let us meet the Bread of Life
‘The Fall of Man’
Genesis 3
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden
God created man in His own image. God is light.
Human life is made of light. [John 1:4]
When Adam and Eve sinned, they became darkness and could no longer bear the light.
A person can only hide his body behind a physical tree.
Adam and Eve having become carnal. They have lost their spiritual radiance.
Light and darkness cannot coexist. [Jean 3.19_21]
John 3
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
Adam and Eve heard God’s voice, which implies that they were accustomed to hearing Him.
And for the first time, upon hearing God’s voice, they hid themselves.
The trees in the garden are everything that man uses to avoid coming into God’s presence (to hide).
Hiding behind trees—that’s what we call spiritual hiding places: work, business, the internet, entertainment, television, debauchery, alcohol, the pursuit of money, projects, …
These, then, are the activities and excuses people use to avoid turning to God.
Those who hide don’t have time to seek God, but they do have time to do many other things.
Their minds can no longer bear God’s truth but are focused on the things of the world.
Once man has sinned, he can no longer endure God’s holiness.
That is how Eve and Adam learned to hide among the natural surroundings.
Any Christian who is living in sin will find it hard to feel like going to church or praying…
That is why we must always search our hearts, because if there is any sin, the devil will do everything he can to use it to hold the Christian back.
No sinner will go to heaven. Sin leads to hell.
Some people don’t come to church because they are hiding from God.
But God says: Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
So what to do?
Never hide from God’s presence. But look for him. If you have sinned, repent.
If you realize that you’ve criticized or even insulted someone, apologize without making excuses.
We must no longer let the serpent control us. You should never let your destroyer be in the same room as you.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS, let us pray… →
Lord, You have redeemed me—I belong to You. You're so kind and patient. Lord Jesus, forgive me and lift me up. I hid myself far from You because of the evil in my heart. May the root of sin in my life be destroyed in the name of Jesus. Lord Jesus, I surrender myself to You and submit to You. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
